Domino’s Meatball Pizza Recipe

 

Ingredients

  • MEATBALL TOPPING: 500 g beef, lamb, or chicken mince, as needed Cheddar and mozzarella cheese Grated
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon dried (packaged) breadcrumbs
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

DOUGH FOR PIZZA:

  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons dried yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water 500 g all-purpose flour + extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Warm up the water as needed for the dough.

To make the sauce:

  • as required Homemade or store-bought tomato sauce or pizza sauce

Instructions

  • In a heatproof jug, combine yeast and water to make the dough. Allow to stand for 5 minutes, or until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center. Pour in the yeast and oil mixture. Mix the dough with your hands or a spatula until it comes together and is smooth. Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for a few minutes.
  • Cover the dough in a lightly oiled bowl with cling wrap. Set it aside in a warm place to double in size.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth. Divide the dough in half and roll it out into a round shape to make the pizza bases. Before rolling the dough, sprinkle a little flour on the kitchen counter to keep it from sticking. Place the bases on the prepared trays.
  • Make the meatball topping while the pizza dough is rising. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius / 210 degrees Celsius. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced meat, breadcrumbs, egg yolk, and seasoning. Mix everything together with your hands for about 5 minutes, then roll the mixture into balls. In a large nonstick frying pan over medium heat, heat the remaining oil and brown the meatballs for 5 minutes, or until evenly browned. Place aside.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly over the bases. Top with the meatballs, pressing them into the sauce, and then sprinkle with the cheeses. Place the pizza tray in the hot oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the pizza is cooked through in the center and crisp around the edges. Sprinkle with the parmesan and oregano. Serve immediately.
